My bra doesn't fit right. What am I doing wrong?

As you gain weight, lose weight or just get older, your bra size changes. Most women have worn the wrong size bra for so long, they have forgotten that bras can be comfortable! Life's tough enough without your bra giving you a bad time!

Bra Size Calculator
Please follow the instructions below to calculate your bra size quickly and easily!

First, while you are wearing a bra, measure underneath your bust. This will help you determine your band size. Special Note: Use a cloth tape measure that will not stretch. Or, you can measure with a piece of non-stretch string, tape or seam binding which you can then measure using a yardstick, ruler or metal measuring tape.

Enter the first measurement here
(use whole numbers (odd or even)- such as 40, not 40 1/2 or 41, not 41.25):

  Your Underbust Measurement

Next, measure around the fullest area of the bust to determine your cup size.

Enter the bust measurement here

Your bra size is:

If you are having trouble measuring, don't hesitate to consult a professional bra fitter at a department store or a lingerie specialty store to make sure you are wearing the right size. She can suggest special fabrics and styles to meet your particular needs.

For example, some women have particularly full or heavy breasts, but not necessarily bigger breasts. So, they may not need a bigger cup size. Instead, they should look for bras with special construction, fabrics and straps made especially for the "fuller" breast.

Special Fitting Challenges
Problem Solution
Band digs in Increase band size (i.e. 40D to 42D) to use the middle set of hooks, leaving some room to adjust bra as body size changes and as the bra's elastic relaxes over time. Wear a bra with a wider band.
Bra rides up in back Tighten closure, loosen straps or decrease band size (i.e. 42D to 40D). You may also need to increase cup size to compensate.
Breasts not the same size Select a cup size for the larger breast and fill in the cup of the smaller breast with an enhancer.
Bustline sags Shorten straps, avoid stretchy bra fabrics, wear a bra with firmer support and more rigid straps.
Cups overflow Increase cup size (i.e. C to D) or band size (40 to 42). Wear a bra with Spandex® or wider sides.
Cups wrinkle at the top & sides Decrease cup size (i.e. D to C)
Sides are too tight Wear a bra with Spandex® or wider sides. Increase band size (i.e. 40 to 42)
Sides bulge Increase band size (i.e. 40 to 42). Wear a bra with more cup coverage.
Straps dig in Wear wider, padded straps. Wear a wider band under the bust and more support around the sides. Decrease the bra/band size so the support comes from the band, not the shoulders.
Straps slip Lift up breasts to the middle of chest and tighten straps. Wear wider straps or a bra where back straps are attached in a "V" shape in the back, closer to the center hook area.
Underwires dig in under the arms Increase cup size (i.e. C to D). Try a non-underwire style.
Underwires stick out at the front Cause: A narrow chest and wide back. Decrease band size 2" (i.e., 42 to 40) and add a bra extender to provide the back width needed.

Do yourself, and your appearance a favor. Don't wear old, misfitting bras. Buy new bras every year. There is nothing like good fitting lingerie to give a woman "grand style".
